Introduction

I always find introductions to be a bit tricky. While I find myself to be very happy with my life, it can come across a bit "boring" when I have to put it down on paper (or blog in this case). I consider myself to be a newlywed. My husband and I got married on June 26, 2010. We picked the date by adding together our birthdays (12+14) and then picked a year that June 26th fell on a Saturday. We had a wonderful two year engagement and an amazing wedding! We live in Corvallis and are both licensed teachers. I am licensed in early childhood and elementary education with an ESOL endorsement and am working on a reading endorsement. This is my second to last term in the MSEd program at WOU. I am currently working as a substitute in the Corvallis and Albany school districts.

My husband and I both have a passion for food. This involves watching a variety of cooking type shows such as Top Chef, Chopped and No Reservations. As often as possible we like to get out an try new restaurants, often by using Yelp or, at times, being one of the first to write a review for a new place. We also enjoy returning to our tried and true favorites. When we find the time between subbing and school we also enjoy cooking at home.

My expectations and goals for this class are simply to learn more about the ways that I can use blogging in the classroom. I consider myself to be computer savvy and I have used blogs in the past but only through taking classes. I have often felt as though I would like to start a blog but have not yet found what I consider to be worthy inspiration. Perhaps this class will spark an interest in a particular topic for me.

  1. Writing posts in a blog that reviews restaurants is something the intrigues many restaurant goers. If you enjoy that, do it. As far as the classroom is concerned our exploration these next several weeks should reveal some great ideas. There are great examples in the first several chapters of our tgextbook "Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts..."

It's great to have you in class again.
